REST-COAST together with the Green Deal projects is to attend the SERE2024 conference

21 March 2024

Taking place every two years, the 14th European Conference on Ecological Restoration will be held between 26 - 30 August 2024 in Tartu, Estonia. With an overarching goal to bridge Science, Practice, and Policy of Nature Restoration, the event is to gather experts, researchers, policy makers and other professionals and provide a ground for exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experiences for the long-term recovery of nature.

Ecological restoration is a topic that holds a prominent place on both political and scientific agendas. The decline in biodiversity demands our urgent attention, and degraded ecosystems around the world require an effective and knowledge-driven path to recovery. Against this background, REST-COAST, together with the other Green Deal cluster projects, MERLIN, WaterLANDS and SUPERB is to host the session "Strategies for restoring at landscape scale".

Through this session, the projects seek to tackle what practical knowledge is uniquely required for the effective systematic and integrated restoration of entire landscapes. The discussions will focus greatly on restoration strategies that embrace a landscape-based approach, prompting discussions on its characteristics, required concepts and models, and the design of planning and practical implementation processes that can effectively deliver restoration at large scales across complex heterogeneous landscapes.

If you are interested in submitting an abstract for this or any other of the conference sessions, please do so here

Deadline for submission - 1 April 2024.
